Suno raises $400M Series D at $5.4B valuation, led by Bond Capital

AI music platform Suno has closed a $400 million Series D round at a $5.4 billion post-money valuation — the largest funding milestone yet for an AI-native music generation company.

What's new

Bond Capital, the growth fund led by Mary Meeker, led the round. Participants include IVP, Forerunner, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon, and Quiet, alongside returning investors Matrix, Lightspeed, Menlo Ventures, and Schroders Capital.

The round was announced on June 3, 2026, by co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman. Suno last raised $250 million in November 2025 at a $2.45 billion valuation — making this raise a more-than-doubling of its valuation in roughly six months.

Context

Suno has emerged as one of the most widely used AI music generation platforms since launching publicly in 2023. Users describe lyrics or prompts and the platform generates full songs, including vocals and instrumentation. The company has faced legal challenges from major music labels over training data copyright, a lawsuit that was still active at the time of this announcement.

Shulman said the company plans to roll out its first music model developed in partnership with the music industry, aimed at creating fan experiences and helping artists reach audiences through new creative workflows — a signal that Suno is pursuing licensing and co-development agreements alongside its direct-to-consumer product.

Why it matters

A $5.4 billion valuation puts Suno in the same bracket as several enterprise AI companies, despite operating in the consumer music space. The round reflects investor conviction that AI music generation is a durable market rather than a novelty — and that the regulatory and copyright landscape, while contested, won't prevent the category from scaling.

For the music industry, the co-development signal is notable. Major labels have been aggressive in litigating against AI music platforms, but parallel negotiations over licensing and partnership deals suggest the industry sees a commercial path through the conflict rather than simply trying to block it.

With $400M in fresh capital, Suno has the runway to expand its model capabilities, grow its creator community, and build the label relationships it needs to defend and extend its market position.
