Salesforce and Anthropic launch Claudeforce, putting Salesforce's CRM inside Claude
Salesforce and Anthropic announced an expanded strategic partnership called Claudeforce on August 26, 2026, bringing Salesforce's CRM data, workflows, and governance directly into Claude — the deepest integration yet between the two companies, unveiled alongside Salesforce's fiscal second-quarter earnings.
What's new
The centerpiece is "Salesforce in Claude," a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills that lets sellers and agents work entirely inside Claude rather than switching into the Salesforce app. According to Salesforce, the skills — covering tasks like meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review — let users "reason over live revenue context, automate pipeline updates, and take governed action right from Claude." The plugin generates tailored dashboards with interactive views inside Claude, routes any action back through Salesforce so existing business rules and permissions still apply, and uses centralized authentication so IT teams don't have to configure access separately.
Salesforce in Claude is available now to a select group of pilot customers. An open beta is planned for September 2026, with additional prebuilt skills for other business functions — beyond sales — beginning to launch later this year.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff framed the deal as a shift in interface, not just a feature add: "By fusing Claude's extraordinary reasoning with the trusted data, workflows, and governance every enterprise runs on, we're delivering a dynamic interface that thinks, reasons, and acts." Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei described the payoff for customers: "Through this partnership, companies can point Claude at the customer information and business context that they've been building in Salesforce for decades, and use it to actually run and grow their businesses."
Context
Salesforce and Anthropic have been expanding their relationship for roughly two years, moving from Claude as an optional model choice inside Salesforce's Einstein and Agentforce tooling to this latest step, which flips the direction — pulling Salesforce's own data and business logic into Claude as the primary work surface. The companies say they plan further integrations spanning Claude, Salesforce, and Slack, deepening each side's use of the other's technology.
The announcement landed the same day as Salesforce's Q2 FY27 earnings, in which the company raised its annual revenue forecast; Salesforce shares rose in extended trading following the combined news.
Why it matters
Claudeforce is a bet that enterprise software's front door won't stay an app — it'll be a chat interface. If sellers can review a deal, update a pipeline, and take governed action without ever opening Salesforce, that's a real test of whether a general-purpose assistant can absorb workflows that used to require dedicated enterprise software, while the underlying vendor still controls the data and permissions. For Anthropic, landing Salesforce's CRM as a first-party data source inside Claude is a significant enterprise distribution win against OpenAI and Google in the race to be the default agent layer for corporate software; for Salesforce, tying its data moat to Claude rather than building an equivalent experience purely inside its own apps is a bet that owning the data and governance layer matters more than owning the interface.
