Nvidia disputes report that its Kyber AI rack system faces a 12-month delay to 2028
Research firm SemiAnalysis reported on July 6, 2026 that Nvidia's next-generation Kyber rack-scale architecture, designed to house the 2027 Vera Rubin Ultra chips, has slipped by more than a year to 2028 because of manufacturing problems with a key circuit board. Nvidia publicly rejected the report, saying its roadmap is intact, but did not address the specific technical claims.

SemiAnalysis said the Kyber NVL144 rack — which mounts GPUs vertically in compute trays rather than horizontally to improve density and reduce latency — has been delayed because its PCB midplane, a specialized 78-layer circuit board connecting the system's modules, is proving extremely difficult to manufacture at scale.
