Google adds AI Overviews and insight cards to Google Ads and Analytics
Google is rolling out a set of AI-generated reporting and insight features across Google Ads and Google Analytics, aimed at surfacing performance trends without marketers having to build reports manually.
What's new
Per Google's own announcement: "With the new Dashboards in Google Ads (coming soon in Google Analytics), you can transform raw data into clear visualizations with simple text prompts." The rollout bundles four features:
- AI Overviews on the Google Analytics homepage — automatic summaries of notable performance changes since a user's last login, including seasonal peaks and traffic shifts, with data cards that link into Analytics' "Ask Advisor" tool for deeper follow-up.
- Personalized insight cards in Google Ads — homepage insights tailored to the individual account, plus a prompt box for generating custom insights, such as how a competitor's activity is affecting a campaign.
- Text-prompt dashboards — available now in Google Ads and coming soon to Analytics, turning a plain-language request into a visual report with an auto-generated summary of what's driving the numbers.
- Benchmarking in Google Analytics — compares an account's campaign performance against anonymized data from similar businesses to flag where there's room to improve.
Google says most of the features are rolling out in beta to English-language accounts first.
Context
This is a marketing-product update rather than a model or platform release, but it's part of the same push as Google's broader Gemini-powered "Ask Advisor" and agentic-assistant features inside Ads and Analytics over the past several months — folding generative summarization and natural-language querying directly into the reporting surfaces marketers already use daily, rather than requiring a separate AI Mode or chatbot interface.
Why it matters
Ads and Analytics are two of Google's highest-traffic enterprise surfaces, used by millions of small and large businesses to manage ad spend. Embedding AI summarization and text-to-visualization directly into the homepage — rather than as an opt-in add-on — is a low-friction way for Google to put generative AI in front of a huge, non-technical user base, and it puts competitive pressure on ad platforms like Meta and Amazon to match similar automated-insight and benchmarking capabilities in their own dashboards.
